Being overclockers we like to squeeze everything we can get out of all of our hardware.
This is true for even our 6800's. I mean If I paid $300 I would want all i could get out of it

This is a guide to better scores and performance for your little 6800 by overclocking,
unlocking, and new drivers

First things first .. get some aquamark It is the bench mark I use most often
dl the file and prepare to wait a good 3-4 hours.. when its done extract it all
(keep in mind when you exstract it you need to put a name on the end) (see here for pic)
locate the setup file and run it. when your done reboot then run a bench to see your score

Now to the Drivers
a modded driver will usually raise your performance a good deal so I chose the Xtreme G 75.90 drivers.
you will need to exstract the files the same way as you did the aquamark. remeber to name it
here is an example:
I put mine in c:\ documents and settings\guru3d\setup(folder you will find the file in)\ the file is called setup :) go figure

install the drivers to your video cards preference I believe its 6 series

when its all installed
Reboot again

if you exsperience technical difficulty just dont use these drivers use some other driver modified or not
its not a necessity

Unlocking
To unlock we will need a nice little program called Riva tuner.
extract and install
now Reboot

open up Riva tuner
on the startup window click the arrow next to the 256-bit nv40 bar
a little side screen will show up, click the video card, when your mouse is over it, it will say low-level system settings

Now you should have a new window up
click on the NVstrap driver tab at the top of the screen
first thing do to is click the install button

you will need to do 3 things in this window

1.-red check the allow enabling hardware masked units box
2.-green click the drop arrow for Active pixel/vertex units configuration
change it to custom (mine says 16x1 but thats because its already unlocked)
3-blue click the customize button

Yet another window should be up now with alot of numbers some enables, disables and some yes's
there should be 1 pipeline box and 1 vertex bar that are able to be unlocked
there will be a "yes" in the Hw masked colum
to enable click where the checks are once for each bar

if your like me I only had the option of unlocking the pipelines and not the vertex for some reason its ok just do the pipe lines. my only theory is the drivers but thats ok

click ok (yes to message) and it will bring you back to the NVstrap driver window and the Active pixel/vertex units configuration bar will now say custom16x1

now click ok and it should ask to restart

Reboot

open up riva tuner and you should see 16x1 up in the very first bar we saw that starts with 256-bit blah blah

(if any technicall dificulty occurs just lock back the pipelines and leave the vertex open)

Now you have unlocked 4 pipelines and 1 Vertex
GOOD JOB

OVERCLOCK
this is the overclocking portion.
to Overclock I recommend Coolbits
download, exstract.
now open the contained folder and run the coolbits Reg file (see pic) it will ask a message about it (yes)
when thats done

go to your Nvidia Display props.
right click your desktop >properties>settings tab> advanced>Nvidia 6800 tab (see pic)

when you click the 6800 tab a side window will come up click the clock
frequency choice

now you should be in a window with clock and mem freq adjustments
1.click manual overclocking (yes to message)
2.in the settings bar where it says 2d change it to 3d performance
3.now press the detect optimal freq. button
4. when done testing click the apply these to startup.
5. all done press ok
(see pic)
message prompt(yes) go back and check that the settings stuck

guess what now.
Reboot last time

now if everything is good start up that Aqua and check out the change
i jumped from 55k to 63.5k

it takes me about 4-9 min to dl 3d mark but it too me a whole 3 hours for aqua... isnt that weird

coolbits - go to start,run,typeing regedit and press enter, navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/NVIDIA Corporation/global/NVTweak/," right click the right pane of the editer and choose to add a new DWord called coolbits. edit that entry and give it a hex value of 3, close your registry,it works
