With the recent release of the Intel 6XX series CPU's and the A64's which are both capable of 64bit arcitecture, you may hear the term WoW64.

This term relates to the Windows XP X64 Operating System which is due to become availalbe comercially in the next year. Because as yet there are hardly any 64-bit applications available for this OS, it is going to have to be able to use 32-bit applications as a normal version of Windows XP would.

This process is called Windows On Windows 64

The process of doing this is quick and technically perfect but there are issues you could encounter, not directly related with the conversion process.

For example the 32-bit application installer could check for the OS installed and Windows X64 would not be recognised and the program will fail to load. There have also been problems with some software not installing at all and problems with activating some products.

This term may not be used widely for a while yet but when it does you will already know what it means.

ha, it seem everyone thought it was world of warcraft, me to
people should just wait until a full program compatible 64bit os is out, whats the use of a 64 bit processor if the programs might not work?
