You could add a little to this FAQ by letting people know they could speed up boot times a tiny bit more by using REGEDIT to disable a few other startup programs. Aside from that this is a good little checklist.

You missed a lot in the BIOS.

Also make sure to turn off Floppy Seek, Floppy Device, etc. You can do a Quick Post. If you dont' have a RAID array, take off seeking for a RAID Array.

TomsHardware did an excellent guide to BIOS tweaking, you should integrate some of it in this how to.

All the different windows tweaks I've found in here are good. The make firefox faster tweaks were covered in one of my issues of pcworld. But one program that usually will reset your windows for maximum performance for all people, ie.... Gamers, business, multimedia/home use is a product made by intelli hyperspeed called "windows optimizer"..And it has a back up and restore function so if it causes some kind of instability you can reverse it and tweak it..
so if your uncertain about config changes and regedit, this is the program for the average user wanting to improve performance.

Just my opinion, but ya know how that one goes, everyone has one lol

Good faq but it didn't do anything for me. I could see it helping on older systems with limited memory or a slow hard drive though.

Start - run - msconfig

Startup - disable everything you don't need
