Default how to: Modify the Zalman VF700-CU ram sinks for Nvidia 6600GT AGP?

due to the design of the agp 6600GT the ramsinks that zalman includes with the zalman vf700-cu will not fit correctly on the ram. there are 3 things you can do.

1. use no ram sinks at all. I realy dont think this will be any worse than stock cooling as far as the ram is concerned
as the stock hsf on my 6600GT did not make contact with the ram at all.

2.mount the sinks on a small fraction of the rams surface.little better than option one, but not good enough IMOP.

3. modify those ram sinks. to do this I used vice-grips and a dremel with a small cut off wheel and a grinding stone.
what I did was hold the sink with the vice grips to alow me control and used the cut off wheel on the dremel to cut down the hight on some of the little fins. I then used the grinding stone to shape and reduse hight a little more where needed on the edges.
three of the sinks get modifyed exactly the same way.the direction shown in the pic's.
the 4th gets cut down from the flat side rather than an angled side due to its placement on the inside aria of the card.

you can see what was done in the included pic's. I also hope to get some better pic's of actualy modifying one and post it in the next couple of days.

as this is the first faq Ive ever made please let me know if you see any thing wrong, or any thing I should change.

good job, with the growing number of cards out there, maybe this faq keep it from being asked in the future

pretty good faq. i'd personally like to know results on mounting it backwards. btw, it would be nice if you could make the title an actual question, like "How do I mount a Zalman cooler on my 6600gt agp?"

it's cool, i can understand it along with everyone else...just seems sort of like a guide, not a faq
