Default Opinion: Getting Better In Counter-Strike

Ok ladies and Gentleman
This could help you out a little bit or even a lot in getting better in counter-strike(or not at all but i hope this helps.. it helped me)

Ill first start about mouse sensetivity-
(mine is 4.6 for anyone that wants to try it out)
personal i think its prefrence( you got to find your sweet spot)
some people think higher is better but ive seen some top players have theirs very low so hears the deal
you want to have full control of your mouse you don't want to make it so that you have to move your mouse with your finger tips its just very hard for some people starting the game. like when you are sniping you want to follow him with ur scope like your walking with him you dont want to see him and just jump ur curser like 10 feet away and fire a shot cuz you freak out lol
there are some pros about high senstivity and some cons here i will list them for you

Pros on high sensitivity
you can turn around in a heart beat! so if your getting shot at from behind you got a chance to turn around and blast him to bits.

It is good for groups of enemys for example (two guys infront of you one on the right one on the left you can shot and kill one then turn very faast torwards the other and kill him too) im trying to post a pic but it is not working out sry guys ill try later
anyway

Cons
Hard to shoot on the move
Harder to snipe
you might miss the target by moving your mouse too fast

Pros not to sensetive
Easier to aim on the move
better aim with a sniper rifle or any gun
have more control of your aim

Cons
not as fast turning
and multy killing is out of the wuestion unless the other guys not looking at you or he fails to kill you by then

so as you can see they both have there pros and cons(just rember "Find your sweet spot")

Ok lets go over some guns

We will start with Terrorist
ak47- i think it is one of the best guns because it is deadly in the write hands
would not reccomend as first gun(it has high rediol.. i will go over some basics about recoil later on)
Krieg- very nice because of soom but on the move it could put you in a bad sittuation
Magnum sniper rifle(aka AWP)-prob one of the cheapest weapons in the game but if its not banned the it should be your first pick for a sniper rifle(1 shot kill almost allways are some times where its 2 but rarly)

Auto sniper- i would NOT recommend this only for one reason its not accurate at all even on soomed in you miss most of the shots.

NightHawk AKA(the desert eagle)- my favroite pistol (HIGHLY RECCOMEDED if you by a pistol this should be your choice) once agian has some recoil which ill go over later

Auto/Pump shotgun- The pump is much stronger then the auto but auto is better for bigger levels

mp5-if you pic a smg make this be the one- very low recoil--low damage

Counter terroist

Mavrick(m4 carbine)- very nice gun on the move just got to know how to use it right( tell you later on)

Bullpin-Like the kreig its not good on the move but very accurate

Magnum sniper rifle-once again if its in your arsinal why not use it.

auto/pump-your chocie once again prefrence

Mp4-smg of choice

Handling Recoil
Ok for guns like the ak47 and the mavrik you have to do something i like to call "Tap" firing this is when you press the fire button once and let go so its like you are shoting semi auto
Why you ask because when you do this you control ur recoil making every shot count( as id like to repeat what my firend said "3 shots fired and all hitting is better then firing 20 shots and missing" this also helps when you aim for some buddys head you should always tap fire i bet you tht you will be getting head shots like crazy

issue with grenades and such
personaly i don't belive in them lol
i think there a waste unless you can use em right
i save myself the trouble and go without(sometimes i grab a smoke) but this is all your choice but i wouldn't worry about that because you will prob end up bouncing it off the wall killing you and some teammates or blinding them right before the enemy enters the room :(

I hope this helped some of you guys that are just starting out or even some vets that have been playing already.

please leave comments so i know what to improve in later Faq and if you liked or thought this fag helped Thanks RubberDucky

go to my follow up form "Counter strike tactics" for some more tips

maybe nice tips on how to handle weapons..... however, I really believe that it depends on practice.

for me, M4A1 + the pistol that comes with CT + lots grenades

aim at the neck, or just a little bit lower, why:
the recoil will bring the 2nd and 3rd bullet up a little bit and hit the head
if then guy ur shooting bends down you will hit his head
----------
after he's dead shoot one single shot between the inner legs, or the head

Hello,

This does depend on practice. Nice explaining most stuff but it could of been better worded. If anyone really wants to get better, it takes practice. Go to gamesurge (Where #overclock.net is located) and join #findpug. You can join with up to 5 people and get some practice in "scrimmages". You play 5 v 5 against clans or other pugs. You will either use 1 of many configs, one of most common is cal config.

Play the game - that's the easiest way to get better. I don't think a walk through can help one gain experience. It's sort of like playing World of Warcraft or any other MMORPG - you need to play to learn.

If you want to get good with rifles, play on AIM maps. Use the steam search servers option, and type in aim_ and it will give you a very huge list of aim_ servers to go to. aim_map is AKs/colts for both teams. That is a common one. Just get out there and play.

The AWP is not a cheap gun, for it would not be in the game if it were. If you learn to handle it, you will become a very good player. Try awp_map for this, or really any maps. I would suggest these small custom maps just to get used to the guns. Once you get a hang of them you could chill with some clans or pugs and get the hang of strategies on the game and what not.

EDIT: Sorry, I did not explain IRC all to well. Download an IRC client, probably mIRC (http://www.mirc.com). Choose your nickname, etc etc. In status, type /server irc.gamesurge.net and then when you connect type /join #overclock.net. That will put you in #overclock.net's live chat channel. From there you can also go to #findpug, #findscrim, #calscrim, and many others. The first one will allow you to team up with a group of 5. The next two will allow you to find "scrimmages" to play 5 v 5. I wouldn't reccomend that right away. Just learn how to play - like, aim maps, etc.

Ahh, Grenades and Flashbangs are some of the most important guns in CS:S. Being able to wound the enemy without doing any damage to yourself is key. Also being able to blind the enemy for a few seconds can easily give you the advantage you need for the quick kill. Otherwise good FAQ

I dont really like this guide.. It has weapons that are good in your opinion. What about the Mac-10? Its my favorite terrorist gun, next is the Galil. And Grenades? Their tactical.

Weapon choice is a matter of personal preference, but money can be a big factor too.

If you plan on using grenades or snipers on a regular basis, I'd recommend enabling Fast weapon swithing in the "options" menu. That way, simply turning the mouse wheel changes weapons (or whatever else you use) without having to click to confirm it.
