How would you make an aviater of a small clip from a movie?

Probably would screenshot frames out of the movie. Every 1/2 to one second.
__________________It takes a lot of time to do it though, I've made a flipbook doing that but printed out all the frames and taped them to a notebook. I have Ulead GIF animator as well but it is the free edition. The full version should have something in it to add video clips to a GIF animation.
