Default Info: How do I make money with my computer?

There are several ways that have a small learning curve that you can use to make a profit off that 2 grand rig you just bought. I am sure I have left one out that you know about, so post and I'll add it. All of these involve providing a service (and a bill) to other individuals.

The ONE thing you should not plan on doing is buying and selling new parts for you're computer several times within a year. If you just bought a 6800gt for 300 bucks and now want a 7800gt for 400, WAIT. You will end up loosing 75 dollars on the 6800gt after shipping and another 100 for the 7800gt. After a few of these you have lost enough money to build a new computer. So here are the proper ways to get some cash for new parts.

1. Back up DVDs for people, this requires a dvd burner which can easily be bought for under 50 dollars. Also you will need a program called DVD Shrink, DVD Shrink cannot do everything so DVD Decrypter is sometimes needed. Both of these programs are very user friendly. I have made around 300 dollars profit doing this just as a hobby.

2. Edit and Restore pictures, There are a lot of people with old photos with scratches, folds, and other damage on them. With a Scanner (around 60 dollars) and Photo Editing (as low as 30 dollars) program like Photoshop (my favorite), you can easily touch these up using the "heal", "redeye", and "patch" tools. Also putting these images on discs can be done for extra profit.

3. Put VHS tapes on to long lasting dvds. (Note that this service requires a little more knowledge than the previous ones) A lot of people have old family videos on vhs tapes and are willing to pay to have someone make dvd copies for them. All you need is a TV tuner, pci versions work best but usb 2.0 will do. It is important that you don't skimp on this product as lower price=lower quality. Anything above 50 dollars should do the trick.

4. Installing new parts into other people's computers, including your old parts that you don't use anymore! Several times friends have asked me what they need to upgrade and they will provide a link from best buy, I tell them that I sell them and install that product for say 20 dollars less then price asked. So I order online get the product for 70 dollars less, then turn a 50 dollar profit and possibly keeping the old part you replaced.

5. Performing general maintenance for people can always be a good way to make some quick cash. Putting virus scanners, pop-up blockers, spam blockers and all that jazz on their computer is an easy job. They think all of these programs cost money but you can easily get legally for free via sites like www.download.com . You can also advertise this as making their computer faster. Tweaking windows (found here and here)can also be done to help someone out by giving them more speed.

NOW PUT THAT COMPUTER TO USE!

I'll be honest. I thought this was spam until I read the author's name. Very useful FAQ.

You should add crackin stuff for people, burning & selling cracked games for the legally disconcerned ones. Other then that, all that stuff is obvious, but sometimes even the obvious is often missed when triyng hard - and this has it all in one place, rep right there.
