Good job. I also hate having to re-read posts a few times to understand what they say. :)

I applaud your post on proper grammar and usage. I also make the effort to comply in that regard. If I, as a contractor who doesn`t need to use correct grammar and usage in my general job description, can accomplish a decent level of communication, then there`s really no excuse for most others who use this forum to not comply with these guidelines.

Perhaps you can add some "common spelling mistakes" in a separate section. Things like there, their, and they're. Stuff like that, lol.

I might add that for some of us, the time we spend perusing posts on this site is precious to us. Much of that time can be wasted trying to decipher "cutesy" internet babble. Thanks for the FAQ, it's a perfect example of concise, clear communication.

Quote:
Reasons to Not Use Proper English - The top reasons I can think not to use proper English are as follows:

1. “English is not my first language. I sometimes have trouble with it.”
2. “I’m just a kid and haven’t had a dozen years of English classes yet.”
3. “Too much to write; too little time to do it.” also “I need to submit my post before {enter the name of the poster who always beats you to the punch here} posts first.”
4. “I’m a horrible typist!”
5. “I’m just too darn lazy to bother with it.”
An exceedingly biased view about why people don't use proper english. The main reason is obviously speed. You really has time to capitalize and put proper grammar into every sentence. Even, as I try to type this in "proper" english, my typing speed has slowed. And anyway, who are you to stipulate what "proper" english really is. English has hanged over the times and what we are seeing more and more on the internet is a type of "l33t speak". IMO, If everyone can understand this l33t speak, then it is merely and evolutionary jump in the way that we communicate and I for one belive it allows us to type faster and more efficiently. This is not an inherantly bad thing.

I understand your point of view and reject it. Thanks for your opinion though, opinionated people make this forum what it really is.

Nrgx.
