Hey everyone, I'm having a little problem with flashing my bios to the X850 XT PE and was wondering if I could get some sujestions. I picked up my card from Future Shop and it has the little yellow VIVO thingy and the Samsung 1.6ns memory. I have read many posts on how to do this and still nothing happens. Well I get the speed changes but the pipes stay at 12. I used ATIFLASH and FLASHMOD to do this with FLASHMOD at the end my PC Speaker makes a noise and then goes back to the CMD Promt.I got this cad a few days ago so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Here are the posts I have read and followed.

I am hopeing that someone will be able to help me out on this one. Thanks in Advance.

OK this is not a brag I am only trying to impart my knowledge level to save some time as I have found it is easier for me to support someone when I have a clear understanding of there knowledgebase. I have been using computers since the days when the Z80 processor was king and have been working in IT since the mid 90's including my last postion as an independent contractor for Lockheed Martin Information Technologies on the ODIN contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center. I know enough to know how much I really don't know and to know what I really do know. That being said here is the problem I am having with this.

On Jan 13, 2006 I purchased an ATI x850 Pro 256MB AGP w/VIVO 4 days ago I decided to flash using the instruction and resources provided by this post.

I have used the modified flashrom with the files in both the ATI X850XTPE AGP.zip and the x850 xtpe 1.6 fan control agp.zip files using the following commands:

Code:
flashrom.exe -f -p 0 renamed.bin
The windows API now recognizes the device as an ATI x80 XT PE and the clock speeds (which the ATItool confirms my chip will handle without artifacts) defaults to 540/590. However both the ATItool and EVEREST Ultimate Edition 2006 only report 12 pixel pipelines.

Upon fruther research I discovered this article;
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/100

So I then used the modified flashrom from both here and then from there and flashed with the empty.bin file provided there and immediately re-flashed with one then the other bin files proved here (on separate attempts). I could still only confirm 12 pixel pipelines. I then used Atiflash.exe v3.09 with this command:

Code:
Atiflash.exe –newbios –f –p 0 renamed.bin
With both bin files provided here (on separate attempts) and still find only 12 pixel pipelines.

I have googled until my eyes have turned to puss filled, scab covered orbs and find myself at a complete loss to explain why this is so. If anyone here can shed any light on the difficulties I am experiencing I would be most grateful.

update

here is the sys info from the ATI Tray Tolos utility

If you can post your ATiTool Fuse config, details here: http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers...light=mod+x850 then I can let you know if this is likely to unlock. Unfortunately, not all X850pro vivos unlock anymore.

Guys, I need to return my built by ATI X850 Pro AGP back down to it's regular clockspeeds and back to the original 12 pipelines and the original bios.

How do I do this?
I swore I saved my old bios but I can't tell if it's correct for my model as ATI Tool is telling me there is still 16 pipelines.

Can somebody provide me with their original saved bios for the X850 Pro AGP?
This page has two bioses of the X850 Pro AGP but they have different clock speeds and I don't know which is which: http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/

OR - please do me a kind favor and check the file that I've attached. :) This is the bios that I believe is the one I backed up from my card before I flashed it for the first time. Can you check if it's the proper bios for 12 pipelines and the default clocks for ATI's card? I don't know how to read it's contents, I tried a hex dump but most of it was gibberish.

Thanks.

Try the following command through Atiflash: atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 filename.bin (replacing filename with the name of your bios.) This won't preserve any rom settings from the last bios and should bios lock the 4 pipelines. If this doesn't work, let me know and I'll check it through a Hex Editor.

Also, probably a good idea to setup a new thread if you need further help with this as it's not really related to Mikey's FAQ. :)

Hello Guys,

i would be very grateful if someone of you is able to create
a X850XT BIOS with Fan Control for me. I flashed my Powercolor Radeon X850 Pro
two days ago but it doesn´t work stable with PE Clocks, only with XT.

Hi i've managed to unlock the extra 4 pipelines using an XT BIOS from my old PRO BIOS, but whenever i flash back with my old PRO BIOS it says i only have 12 pipes open.

How can i get the 4 extra pipes to stay open?

I wouldn't mind just using an XT or PE bios but i cannot get the fan control to work, even with BIOS that are being said allow fan control.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you installed the Catalyst again?
