You got MSI, you need ATI based card dude, what you need now is to reflash with the MSI brand of X850XT

Just ordered a Sapphire X850 Pro AGP, when it arrives in the mail do you think anyone would be willing to guide me through the process of getting it to 16 pipes? I'm entirely new to overclocking/modifying anything from stock so help would be greatly appreciated. You will be rewarded in awesome points.

I bought a Connect3D X850Pro /w VIVO last week. Was a bit of a hassle since I don't have a floppy drive *rolleyes* but in the end I managed to flash it :) It runs at XTPE speeds now, and I have my 16 pipelines :) It doesn't seem to get any hotter when idle than before, around 41C. Seems nice :)

I purchased a brand new Sapphire X850PRO (AGP) about two weeks ago. I am now running as an XT PE w/ no problems.

I first flashed the BIOS and ran 16 pipes at 500/500 using the stock cooler. I found that I had to crank the fan speed up to 100% to keep it stable (ATI Tool override). If I didn't, the GPU ran alarmingly hot. I'm talking 85C hot. I should mention that my case is small and not well ventilated so others may have better results...

This week I replaced the cooler with the Arctic Cooler V5R2 and it's now stable at 540/590. Basically the $30 rebate on the card (newegg.com exclusive, expires 6/26/06) paid for the cooler. I'm gonna push it a little further this weekend to see how far it'll go. But even at the elevated speeds that Arctic keeps it at around 60C.

The Sapphire part number on my card is 100152SR in case you're interested.

Ok, I am exceptionally new to modding and overclocking and whatnot, so please excuse the noobness. I'm gonna be upgrading my vid card to a new 256Mb ATI Radeon X850Pro (AGP), ordered straight from ATI's clearance site for $140 with free shipping. :) Anyway, after reading this entire thread, I'm wondering what the likelihood is that winflash and the bios used on the first page (xt pe 1.6 w/fan control) will give me all 16 pipelines at the increased clock speeds (540/590). I also prefer using Omega drivers instead of ATI's; I'm wondering if anyone knows of any potential problems of using those drivers with the flash-modded card. And finally, if I want to reverse the flashing process to get back to the original settings, how would I go about that? Please talk to me like I'm 4, 'cause like I said earlier, I R teh noob. Thank you in advance for any help given.

Hello All,

I'm asking a question about how to access the atiflash utility. I've accessed flash utililities in the past by creating a boot disk and copying the utilities to the disk and the files needed, inserting the disk and booting from it. I'm able to boot from the disk and I type atiflash at the prompt but none of the commands seem to execute correctly. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

This mod is excellent, unlocked 16 pipes on my x850Pro non-vivo AGP raised average temp by only 1 degree F even though it is hard for me to see a major gain due to my processor,, I am planning on upgrading that soon.. However I do wonder if I'll be able to use this card to its full potential with a Socket A 3000+ or 3200+ barton 400MHZ FSB..or at least smooth things out I run oblivion 18-60fps Doom3 averages 37.3 FPS on ultra no aa and f.e.a.r. is through the roof.....Prey is completely maxed out full antialiasing scopfiltering 1280 res with average of 30+ fps.. however my games do stutter at times (even before the flash) perhaps i'm bottlenecking bad or something...
