Ok, the idea is if you isolate and remove the wires used for edid you will be able to set any res that your monitor can handle. (Edid: That anoying firmware in your monitor that tells your comp wether or not you can set a res. (To bypass it you usaly need to be set manualy in catalyst control center.))
What the mod does: When you go to set a res your monitor will no longer have a say in wether or not it wants to be set to that res. Example: My monitor can easily do 2048x1536 but acording to edid it is only suposed to go as high as 1856x1392. It's kinda like overclocking your monitor. :) Ok without further adieu here is how you do it. :) Pull pins straight out with needle nose plyers :) I am not responsible for any damages, you do this at your own risk. ;) (Works best on vga crt's. :) ) Last edited by BFRD : 04-19-06 at 02:00 PM. |

Like on a vga cable? :) yes:)
http://www.mycableshop.com/techarticles/VGA.htm You want to remove id pins 0 and 1. :) I would not suggest this however because it's not easy to replace the vga plug on most monitors... |

No, not quite. My video card out goes through an adapter where I plug my VGA monitor in. The video card (female) accepts the type of plug you used in your FAQ. One side of the adapter looks like the pic you used in your FAQ, and the other side is a female vga connector. I want to pull the pins out of the adapter, so I don't risk my monitor cable, but I don't wanna shot vid card either.
