How to set up a Raid 0, with SATA drives.
This is a simple guide on how to set up a raid 0. I recommend setting up a Raid 0 with an even number of identical SATA hard drives.
OK Now We’re Ready!!
Now you’re in the Raid Bios. There are four things you will need to do. (All Raid bioses are a little different, but the premise is the same.)
Get ready to push F6 quickly After you've exited the raid bios, it will boot into the windows install setup. When you see "press F6 to setup third party drivers, Hit F6, and insert the floppy disc(If you haven't already). Then it will start the normal format process. It won’t actually read from the floppy disc yet. (If you’ve never formatted a computer before, you have no business trying to set up a Raid) Watch the bottom of the screen. When it asks you if you have third party drivers press F6 100 times, LOL. (It’s very important that your F keys are on. Some newer keyboards you must enable the F keys on the keyboard.) Start normal format process.
Enjoy the speed. I wrote this from memory, and I’m pretty old. If anyone sees anything I’ve missed, let me know.

Great instructions, One thing about the SATA drivers on floppy, some manufactures do not include a disk, but the drivers are on the motherboard disc, All they have to do is put the drives from the motherboard disc on the floppy then they have the third party drivers.

For the nVidia controller there are two device drives, both of which must be loaded at the F6 prompt.
__________________Also the Stripe to OS Cluster size should be kept at a ration of 4:1 for best performance... the default cluster is 4K so a stripe of 16K should be set. If using a stripe of > 16K then the RAID array must be setup prior to the OS being installed and formated using the new cluster size. However, loading XP with SP2 will fail due to some .DLL files being changed which look for a 4K cluster size so a slip-streamed version is required. (There are a few threads around here which go into all of this)

@mauquai - yes with any BIOS update or reset the RAID can be disabled in BIOS... so it is a matter of re-enabling it and then the system will see the array again as just prior to the reset / flash.
