Default Opinion: Don't waste money on Microsoft Office get OpenOffice.org

Everyone likes free software. Mircosoft Office can cost anywhere from $180 for the basic package to $373 for the professional package. Save yourself the money and try OpenOffice.org its no longer just for Linux, Windows users and Mac users can download it too.
It can do everything that Microsoft Office can do. Saves in its own format or save it in a Windows format (.doc, .xlm, .ppt) so there are no compatibility issues. also download file was not very big.
90mb for windows with Java runtime engine already
139mb for windows without Java runtime engine
Linux -> 120mb
Mac -> 135mb

Contains:
OpenOffice.org Base --> creating new DataBases
OpenOffice.org Calc --> just like Microsoft Excel
OpenOffice.org Draw --> Abit like paint
OpenOffice.org Math --> cool math symbol writer
OpenOffice.org Impress --> just like Microsoft power point
OpenOffice.org Writer --> like Microsoft word

Give it a try. I'm sure you'll like it.

I should have posted this. I've been using OO for over two years and, while it does take some time to get used to, is just as powerful as the basic version of Office. There's nothing in it like Publisher, but that's not too expensive to buy. Only thing is that some formatting doesn't work between the two.

Draw is like Microsoft's Visio and Base is like Microsoft's Access, neither of which are included in the basic version of MS Office. I use OO and will never pay to use the Microsoft Apps.

I previously tried OpenOffice, and while it IS very good software for the price ($0), I found it to NOT be completely compatible with MS Office documents. I encountered problems all the time. I also found it to be quite slow at times. I went back to MS Office 2003.

However, if you do not have MS Office (read: don't know how to use BitTorrent), then OpenOffice is a great alternative.

I found a lot of the same. I still use it, since it is free, and i like to support open source, but it isnt the most stable of progs. Shame, its actually quite nice to use.
