When Sapphire made this card, they used two different cores. One is the r430 (which cannot me modified) and the other is the r480, in which case you can modify the bios to make the card work as a x850 XT PE. Many people try to do the mod, without checking what the core is. This is far easier than taking apart the card to see the physical core. You can just use ATI tool to check.
Download, install, and run
ATITool
Hold shift and left click on settings.
Scroll to the bottom and you will see two lines that are interest to us. Make sure these two lines match with the ones in ATITool. If they do not match, your card is the r430 core.
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES 0xFFFFFFFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES 0xFFFFFF9F
