DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK....I am not responsible ;)
__________________Ok this is pretty much the easiest thing in the world to do and this will only work for the 7900GT. There are many guides to this mod, but I'll make it look easier than the other people and plus it's coming straight from a user on Overclock.net who has done it Now we've all seen the articles posted on VR-Zone about how to volt mod this card. Well some others over on XtremeSystems found the way to do by conductive ink and this is what I will be showing you now. This is safe and you do not need any other skills other than knowing how to cut thin pieces of masking tape and have a steady hand. Also if something goes wrong with your card this ink can be taken off my nail polish remover whereas a physical solder job will not be reverseable Here's what you need
So for about $35 you can essentially turn your 7900GT into a 7900GTX with half the RAM. Also, YOU WILL NEED AMPLE COOLING FOR THIS MOD, DO NOT USE THE STOCK COOLER. Even a Zalman cooler might not be enough. You'll have to do the same kind of cooling like the guy did on VR-Mods or go to water (which will cost another $200) So, first things first get your card and turn it over, you'll see where my tape is, where you need to tape so you do not get ink anywhere else on the board. So, get out your Exacto blade and cut tiny strips of tape to mask off the area which will be shown in the picture after this one ![]() ![]() VOLTAGE SETTINGS: 1.2v - nothing 1.25v - Pink 1.3v - Blue 1.35v - Blue + Pink 1.4v - Red 1.45v - Red + Pink 1.5v - Blue + Red 1.55V - Blue + Red + Pink So do what you need to do to get the ink on the board, this does take a steady hand to do, so be CAREFUL. I had trouble with my ink pen working so I cut it up and applied it like paint rather than drawing it on the board. Any way that you do it should be fine. When you think you applied it right, take the tape off and try to apply more to make sure that all of the ink is connected. Now, what you need to do is reinstall your card back into the system to be sure that you modded it correctly. So, take out your Multimeter and turn the Dial to the left (if they are all the same) 20V or to where you see 0.00 on the read out. Here is where you need to test the Voltage for the GPU in relation to where you just placed the conductive ink. I took the picture with the card already in the system so this is how it's going to look when you test the voltage ![]() Turn on your CPU and place the Black Needle from the multimeter on some metal, like the bottom of the case, before you place the Red Needle from the multimeter in the vGPU hole. THis will insure that the Multimeter is grounded and nothing will seriously go wrong. If everything is all well and good you should get a readout of 1.55 or somewhere close to it depending on your PSU and you've successfully volt modded your 7900GT So far people in the 7900GT Vmod Club: Sideburns: 697/1860 GatorLCA: 705/1800 Aqualan: 700/1800 tubnotub1: 650MHz Pocketmnky: 645/1800 @ 1.4V The Viper: 702/1800 @ 1.54V If you want to be added to the list, just PM me

Just correcting the numbers. It WAS 697/1840.
__________________But since then I've done extensive testing, and artifact scanning. My new speeds are 690/1822, and these are totally artifact free. Nice FAQ by the way...I was asked to make one...but I never got around to it due to my stupid job.

Sorry to have to ask this, but everyone is talking about evga, I am buting a 7900gt and thinking about PNY since I can get a three year replacement for $20, will this work on a PNY card? Also does this put the voltage to 1.55 volts or just raise the cap that software can set? I am thinking 1.5 because the little increase in performance vs heat will be bad in my system.

It will work on any 7900GT, they all use the same PCB

Use MAsking tape like you would use for painting, some said Scotch/Clear tape would work but there's not enough adhesive in my opinion to hold. Masking tape is the best
