Yes, *some* manufacturers have a jumper you put on to force it to SATA150, others do it from within...

Was wondering about that all our gigabyte mobos that have come through lately have locks on them.
__________________I just assumed the cables were faster like ultraATA ones. Finally manufacturers are addressing sata connectors... I've lost count of both how many snapped ones I've seen, and ones that have come lose after transporting.

Very nice - really with the minimal price difference in hard drives, it matters not which you pick (I currently have 2 'sata2' 250gb drives, 1 120 'sata1' drive, and 1 'sata1' 160gb drive - I see little to no difference, except with the 250gb drives since they are in a RAID array.
But it is good to know all sata cables are essentially the same :thumb:
