So, I have been out of the loop for a while. Anybody feel like helping me get 2 cores going in Vista? I forgot the process. I know the part about Machine ID and whatnot, but that's all I remember... What else needs to be done?

Like, I know you had to put 2 instances into 2 different folders or something silly so it could run 2 instances of the program, but I don't remember the specifics of it.

you sure can!

2 folders with new fold.exe's. Open one and set machine ID to 0, then open the other and set the machine id to 1.

I have never been able to do this with used .exe's with old work units, so I must suggest using new, bare .exes

Is SMP allowed in the competition? What about the PS3?

Yes the SMP is allowed in Team Competition but it counts as two cores on a dual core for the sake of the competition. PS3's are also allowed but would only benefit if a member was down and you needed to add extra cores to keep your Teams at max core at 8.

I am getting a PS3 soon, too. But hopefully with all of us using C2Ds over 3 GHz, we can get some decent points if we 24/7. And if we have a couple at 4 GHz, that'll be even better.

He's talking about SMP, not console. You can't run two instances of SMP on a dual core, only a quad or +
