Aprill 22nd for the R600 610 630 and May 6th or 16th for the 650. Personally I'm waiting the month for the 65nm card that's the same as the R600.

I use AMD, Intel, ATI, Nvidia, Mac OS, Windows, Debian, and Unix. There is no right or wrong way to love computers.

So yeah, the R600 is finally going to come out. But oh wait.

There's going to be a 65nm version coming out next month, that'll be faster, have more ram, run cooler, over-clock better.

Let's see if it comes out next month though! Woot!

I mean, what a way for AMD/ATI to keep their buyers on the fence. I mean, it's bad enough the R600 has been like on some 8 month hiatus, but now they ruin the R600 release by having a better revision only a month away?

I mean if you were an ATI fan, why would you buy a hot, hard to over-clock non-future proof version, when in only a month your card will be worth like 60% of what you paid for it, because the same company released a 65nm version with a higher amount of better ram that runs cooler?

It makes no sense to me.

Yeah I totally aggree...however if they get stuck with alot of these R600 based cards they may price them very cheap. As long as they work well at stock speeds I may be interested in one if the price is right...but yeah a month until good ones come out? If I was was running things in AMD I wouldn't even bother with the R600.

You know I don't think they got where they did by being stupid idiots. Sit back let them do what they do then jump on what works best. You could always write them a letter and tell them what you'd do differently.

Heh...no thanks. i am sure they have a plan behind every thing. Plus its been a while since they've released any thing really new so it might be just PR if nothing else.

Plus I expect the R600 GPU to be a beast...and more then likely most of the world is oblivious to the up and coming R650 GPU and will buy them up any way as it will still be a dang good card.

I wish there was a step up program for ATI/AMD cards.

I find it quite interesting that ATi would go the route to have 320 scalar units running at 740Mhz, while nVidia has 128 at 1.35MHz. ATi has always been all about extreme marchetectural efficiency, and now they are taking an nVidian type of attack with raw horsepower.
In any case, the fact that it has sound and physics onboard is sick, it is going to kill nVidia's 8800 ultra!
