I am going to be getting a new rig but am hoping to get away with the 4870 on my current PSU until I can get a good one.

It has 3 rails with 17A on each so I think it should be more than enough.

I only have one optical drive and one HDD along with a Q6600 so I think I will be alright but want a few opinons

I'll be fine, but it'll be close. You might want to upgrade to a Corsair 650 while you're at it in case you ever want to go crossfire and to eliminate future head aches.

I will be buying a Corsair TX750 soon, I just want to be able to hold off on that $120 bullet for a little while. It is either buy the 4870 or a new PSU right now, I am leaning for the 4870 but might go with the 4850 since that would be fine on my current PSU

500 watts will be more then enough. I have the same PSU and I've run both 3870 crossfire and 8800GTS SLI off this power supply.

It'll be fine, though it's possible your PSU could degrade over time. But since it's just temporary, you should have no worries.

My secondary (GF) system:
- MSI K9A2 CF v2
- Athlon II x2 250 (@3.4GHz)
- 4 GB G.Skill 1066 RAM
- Geforce 9600GT w/Accelero S1 rev2
- WD Caviar Blue 500GB
- OCZ StealthXStream 500W
- CM Gladiator 600 case

The max draw for 4870 is 150w. The Antec NeoPower 500W unit can have about 310w to 320w on 12v so it should be fine.

The PSU says the max draw on the 3 12v rails is 487W so I think I am going to be just fine, thanks again guys!
