Nothing wrong with the FX-6300 either. It's a solid chip all around.

AMD warranty is void if you do any overclocking. If you want to go about service, Intel is definitely better than AMD, from what I've gathered searching and personal experience with both.

A10 definitely matches the Phenom, so when space is a concern and budget is a concern, A10 of course. But if you can use a GPU, then I'd go with Phenom because the 7660D is not nearly as powerful as a $20 4850. Yes, used, but it's $20.... at that price point I think you are kind of forced to look at used. Plenty of great OCNers here sell on the OCN market with no problem.

4300 vs Phenom, the Phenom is quite a bit stronger in multi-threaded applications, otherwise the two are quite neck and neck. The Phenom is significantly cheaper (you could get an X6 for that price) so why would you bother with a 4300, especially when an am3+ board is more expensive? And I'd hardly say the 6300 is 'superior in all aspects', it's just insignificantly better in multi-threaded applications and neck and neck in most. Phenom wins in H264, in WoW, there's just no excuse for the Phenom to win anything against a newer gen CPU that's twice as expensive.

I mean the ib is consistently better than sb, albeit just a bit, but ib isn't much more expensive than sb either. and both ib/sb are way better than first gen core.

Really depends on the application, but for overclocking, most gaming, general usage, FX is terrible for the money. There's just a few games that FX might possibly be relevant (BF3), and then it has it's place in professional level, intensive, multi-threaded tasks.

And intel's isn't? You have to buy an additional warranty is you want to OC and still have one.

Anyone will say warranty void if overclocked. Anandtech's results show the FX-6300 being 5fps faster in WoW than the 965BE. Marginal but faster. In fact in the head to head the FX-6300 is faster in almost everything, with only one or two results showing it being a dead heat.

and here's the thing, take notes of where I'm going.....
FX-6300 meaning revision of FX-6100 meaning newer tech over the 965BE (Deneb C3).
supposedly 6 cores but.... we're not going there with the cores = module = bull*****...
anyways, '6' cores of two tiers up (supposedly) in technology that gains how much in actual performance over the Deneb C3 if any...?

I'll wait for a good explanation.... rolleyes.gif

edit:
and I'm not picking a fight or anything, just making a point..

For the price that the FX-6300 costs brand new, I'd personally go for the newer chip. That's just me though.

FX-6300 comes with new instructions and it already outclasses Ph II X4 in newer games - like 60-70% more minimum frames,I really don't see the debate here. Phenoms had a nice run, they are well succeeded now by clearly superior products.

There is nothing wronge with them. its a stero type that is given to the worst of the 2 cpu manufactors if they are not the best. I remember when amd was on top. most said the same about intel.
