I'm new to overclocking and I'm loving this forum so far

This is my first build. I'm using a AMD Athlon II 435 and so far I am getting 3.6Ghz, a unlocked the 4th core along with L3 for only $51.xx shipped from fleaBay

This was done using Asus TurboV in extreme mode. So far things appear stable after 7 hours of AMD OverDrive stability test and 4 hours of Prime95..more testing to come... My CPU temp maxes out at 52c with SpinQ and all fans set to low (testing purposes only)

Did TurboV slow my memory speed down like I have heard it can do sometimes? 839.7 Mhz seems low?

One more thing, I promise. I enjoy using Cool'n'Quiet because of the power savings when not needed. Is this a bad idea?

Thanks a bunch,

- Jeff

Unless anything goes wrong, it'll be 3.6 24/7.

Nice unlock with the L3, and nice OC! I wasn't able to unlock mine

DDR stands for "Double Data Rate," therefore your 839.7 MHz means the RAM is actually going at 1679.4 MHz, which should answer your question.

Cool'n'Quiet apparently prevents an overclock from reaching it's maximum potential. I don't have statistical evidence though, I just know that pretty much all the overclocking guides state that C'n'Q should be turned off when overclocking.

Nice, our systems will be running near identically then (components and everything)

I'm definitely looking at upgrading my Phenom 9850 to the x3 440 or 435 pretty soon here. Really digging the idle and load temps. Even with a new heatsink and thermal paste, my current cpu does around 40c idle and 55c load. Which isn't terrible but I would like to play around with getting above 3.2ghz with a chip. Where can I find one of these cheap?!?!?!

Welcome to OCN saginaw, nice oc. Congrats on drawing what appears to be a healthy Deneb core out of the x3 deck. Nice find for 50 bones.

Once you get your oc stable go ahead and enable CnQ and see how it behaves. Works ok for me @ 3.6. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1271665

saginaw ? as in Saginaw,Mi. ?

You can get a 440 for $75 free shipping on newegg. That's where I got mine.

If I don't find a good offer on a used one I am definitely going with this. Maybe MicroCenter will have one.

Hello everyone. new to the group. I just finished my first build. I am still tweaking it but once I do i am going to attempt my first O.C. I am still nervous about the whole thing so I am trying to read up on as much information as I can.

Any place to get help opening up an x3 440? Mine's sitting on a 790GX 128M with 4 x 1G Kingston 667 ramsticks...

BIOS is A78DE-A2T

This forum seems to be lots of stats, pics, etc., but no how-to (except one that didn't get me my 4rth core).

Thanks...

Beginnerd / Mensan
