What questions do you still have? The FX-60 is the fastest dual core chip on the market and also the most expensive. If you want the best, with no regard to cost, there's your choice. However, you can come very close to the performance with a much cheaper X2 chip. Nobody can make that decision except for you. If you wanna spend a ton, get the FX. If you wanna save a few bucks and not lose much performance, get the X2. Not sure what else there is to say.

i was talking about the previous post,

ok.i have been reading lots and i mean lots of reviews the last couple of days and frankly speaking i am torn between the FX60 & the 4800+.

i know both are toledo cores, both have 2x1mb cache, both are dual cores so what on earth is different between them 2? why the huge price difference? if it was intel i would understand better but being AMD i am not sure. I like the fact that FX60 is multiplier unlocked (actually love it) but lots of people are saying that it will not even oc as well as 4800+ (which is multiplier locked). this is very important to me because i want something that i can really push. If its true that i can only reach 3GHz with the FX60. i dont want it.

Is this true? am i only paying for the multiplier unlocking? can i get the 4800+ to oc and perform better than the FX60?

Sorry... a little catch up on this one for clarification
The 9x requires a very high HTT which some CPUs may not do and the RAM may also require a high divider. That in itself is why the versitility of the 10 is more desirable to some.
Sorry if there was any confusion
And yes, of course, the higher the HTT and the lower the ''x'' the better.

On the FX... it vs the 4400+ ... the FX has not lock on the multiplyer where as the 4400+ is 1/2 locked or default and downward changable. only.

ok. i have been an idiot and a clown all at the same time. all because i was on the intel bandwagon for too long. now i am outright confused. i was looking at fx60 and then 4800+. now i find out that the Opteron is ways better in terms of OC. can some1 tell me plz.

the oc results for opty seems outrageous and i wouldnt mind getting that if it is ways better than the fx60.

The Opteron were the premium depending on the stepping... being they tend to have the premium part of the core material and utilize less vcore.
Depending on what multiplyer you wish to base from the 170 uses 10x and the 175 uses 11x

how about the opty 180 duke? and say if it is multi 11x then it should be able to be downclocked to at least multi 9x right?

Opterons are server chips, and SOME have been known to OC like crazy. However, the best results (that I heard about, anyway) came from the lower chips, like the 146. (Single core, 1.8GHz, I think under $200)

My suggestions for the original questions-

1) Get the X2 4800+ You can OC it to almost exactly the same performance, and you'll save $400.

2) DFI LanParty SLI expert. Probably the best OCing SLi board out there.

3) If you're still planning on staying with nVidia, I'd go with either eVGA or XFX.

4) OCZ Gold TCCD is one of the best. Crucial Ballistix, GeIL One, all great RAM. OCZ is usually the easiest to find.

5) Fortron, PC Power & Cooling, Seasonic, and OCZ all make great high end PSUs.

People, lets be realistic. This guy cannot wait for new technology. He has a single window of opportunity to buy the parts cheaply from the US. Cyrix, tell us when you expect to be in the US to purchase the parts (and where.)
That way we can tell you to buy, wait, or whatever.

I suggest the 165, 170, 4400+, or 4800+. The FX60 will suck up too much of your cash, without any true justification. The 11x Multi on the 180/4800+ will be more than enough.

More to come. Just tell us a few things first.
