Im looking at either the Opteron 148 Venus, or the Athlon 4000 Sandiego.
I am mostly a gamer, but I preform many other tasks. For general use, coupled with potential over clocking, which one of these would the experts recomend?

This question has been asked many times, but ussualy it's 148 vs 3700... Actually, I would reccomend the 3700+. The new steppings are supposed to be amazing, people are getting 2.7 and 2.8 easy on air. Opterons have been jacked up in price, and seem to be more hit-and-miss than the new 3700 Sandys.

the Opteron is 255.00 a whole bill less than the 355.00 4000 sandy.

If the 4000 is already at 2.4 would I be able to get it to 3.0 on air?

If going between the 148 and the 4000, go with the cheaper 148. You won't be disappointed.
