Processors last a very long time. By the time they die, their technology will be the equivalent of a Dorito.

I have an old 733 mhz amd athlon system in my basement. The hd died. The psu died. 3 fins are broken off of the cpu cooling fan (which is now an additional exhasut fan for my comp), and the ram may be starting to go bad, but the cpu is still working. I've had that comp since I was 8. It's lasted a good 6 years, and I'll reserect it if the need arises. Also, my dad had an old p2(I think) 333 mhz system since... I haven't got a clue, but it's old, and it still works. (actually, I sold it for $35 at a garage sale last year, but it worked when I sold it.) I'm pretty sure that intel and amd are matched in cpu lifespan. I have never personally seen a processor die... except the one that I shot with a bb gun. 65 mhz=not fit to live. (Those things are cool when they shatter lol). +Old tech=

Anyways, I'm pretty sure that without an overclock, the processor's are both supposed to last about 10 years of regular use. Even if amd's do die a little faster, it'll be far outdated by the time it dies even if it's overclocked. By the time ur system dies, there'll be faster processors in pda's.

So, ya welcome to my sig. This is where I -BOOM HEADSHOT!! gunner2.gif

lol look at this ownage!

Dont be dissing the dorito it has more that one use where as a proccessor has only 2. A proccessor or a thumb tack.

Shouldn't there be a shorter word for "monosyllabic"?thinking.gif
