I will be making an AMD Home theater/gaming PC for my living room. It will support ATI's 3d thingy.gunner2.gif I have had bad experiences with psu calculators before, so I am asking you guys how much power the system will use.

System Specs:

-AMD Phenom II 1100T BE (overclocking to 4 ghz)
-Zalman CNPS 9900 MAX CPU Cooler
-Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5
-Gigabyte ATI Radeon 6870 in 3-way Crossfire (for the 3D viewing/gaming)
-Could someone please recommend me some corsair ram that is 8gb and is supported on this board?
-Lite-on Blu-ray/DVD-RW writer thingy
-Corsair 40GB SSD
-Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB HDD
-Antec VERIS PREMIER Media Control center
-Sunbeamtech Rheobus Extreme 6-channel fan speed controller
-1x 80mm fan, 3x 120mm Aerocool Sharks, 2x 140mm Aerocool Sharks
-Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced

If you're only running on 1 tv you don't need 3 way crossfire..... at all. Not even close.

Anyways, if you're using all that, assume 250w load draw from each 6870 + all other components you're looking at a pretty high power psu, probably near the 850w - 1kw range.

X4 at 4, depending the voltage, it may takes up to 190w. 6870 is 150w, with scale in 3 ways, probably 420w and a bit more in bench, plus another components in the list, the number is around 720w so a solid 750w unit should do it but I would get a solid 850w for some headroom. Make up your budget, members will pick a good one for you.

Your meant 1000w psu? Depending on RSA or RSC but it should pull 80a+ on 12v. It is solid unit if you can get it at a good price.

If you meant the 1000 Watts thumb.gif , everything is looking great smile.gif

Since its AMD, just get 2x4GB sticks from corsair. Does not specifically have to be of a certain voltage. Upto 1.7v is good.

On a side note, You may want to get 1090T instead of 1100T and save yourself some money.

Ummm...6870 can only go 2-way Crossfire. If you want 3-way, you need a 6950/6970.
