hi guys

I am in need of a new motherboard. my current one is a gigabyte ud5 990fx

I need something that is the same or better please, I was looking at or for one of the new ones that has pcie3.0 as I want to use it with the new gpu's I have but I can not see anything like the intel stuff that has the new hardware....

btw.... it must support at least 32 gig of ram at 1866 and my cpu and 8 sata 3 ports.

cheers

990fx mobos getting nothing new in quite some time and I dont think there is anythying on the horizen. More AMD love going into FM2+ and its APUS.
Only exception I can think of is the Asus Sabertooth 990FX GEN3 R2.0. This supports PCIe3.

also, with that 670, you dont really need pcie 3.0 since the bandwidth of pcie2.0 16x doesnt bottle-neck it. 8x might be a different story though

Honestly, there arent any single gpu cards on the market that really need* pcie3.0. it only becomes a benefit when you have a limited number of lanes and you are trying to run multiple gpu's. here is an article showing how a titan scales between the two interfaces. unless you are planning on running a multigpu setup, looking for a pcie3.0 board is really just unnecessarily narrowing your search for the right board.

I saw an article a while ago (might have been Anandtech) that showed for a single 1080P display there was barely 2-3% difference between PCIe 2.0 x4, x8 and x16. kartcrg84's referred article shows it make little difference to a titan let alone a 770 But if a newer mobo has other features or colour scheme that you want and can benefit from then I say go for it.

cheers guys.

well I plan on going SLI I have to buy this new board... and I am also planning on going full watercooling on the motherboard as well.

I think I have already made my mind up on the ud7.... however I just need to see if there is a new rev coming out or if this is it as the new AMD cpu's are coming out the fm2+...... so maybe I must get a new ud7 and get it done and over with.

note to all.... MSI is out as they are poop I think asus looks really tasty however I have not seen anything new come out yet in a while as in the ROG range.

Its the lack of new stuff in the AMD desktop that has me looking pretty hard at Intel again....I might hold off if a halfway credible rumour came out talking about Steamroller and new mobos and chipsets. COmpared to Z87 and its features 990FX is looking pretty last century.
