I agree! The difference between prices of DDR and DDR2 RAM is a great example. $90 for 2gb versus $30 for 2gb... Ugh

Gosh I wish my school's tech-people knew something about computers, or rather I wish they recognized the fact that they know nothing about computers
Example:
("Don't walk around with your laptop open, it will flex and the moving parts will all rub together and corrupt your hard drive" what the hell?)

Maybe I can convince them to ditch all of our Macbooks/G4s/G3s for some Toshiba, HPs, or Compaqs

Good luck on getting a contract from your school!

Where can you even buy a SkullTrail board anyway?

I am always correcting my teacher because the book she is teaching out of is 1 year old. Which is really old for computers. She thinks BTX was a big design

Newegg.com, I think you should just keep your current rig and save the money until 8-core cpus start coming. IF I were you I would save my Beans and wait theres no use in spending $3,000 in this hobby unless your a crazy FOlder or bencher LIke I have seen. Being sponsered makes it much easier. Your current rig is nice. Keep it and move on.

I say just get a Q6600 or E8400 and 4Gb of ram and a nicer PSU and another 8800GTS 512mb. That will be more than enough for most games and that will cost you around $600-$800

IF you do decide to go nits on a new build I call DIbs on your Phenom and your 8800.

Did you even read my post? This is a mandatory school project. I just chose computers because this is my carrier field.

Dude you are lucky i live in a great town with great stuff but our school just went through a huge budget cut and ofcoarse the comp department get's no new parts "i'm also in 11th grade"

So we are working with Slot 1 procs and OLD ASS AMD's. Our books are from the freaken 50's man i $h1t you not. I was argueing with my teacher about what is the fastest cable. I knew that firewire 800 or e-sata was not in his knowledge. So i said USB and he says i'm wrong so i go Wth? And after some tard saying ISA he said Firewire?

And i was like "Mr.S firewire is not the fastest USB is and he says that USB's transfer speeds are only 12 mb/s and i go NO they are 480 mb/s and firewire is 400 mb/s.

So he says "I'm talking about USB 1.1" i was absolutly amazed at the stupidity i was dealing with.

P.S my Teacher MR.S does not know what SATA is? It's because we are using old Ghetto IDE drives from the 40's

LOL! we just went over USB 1.1, 2.0 and firewire IEEE or ilink today.

I have more bad news for you. My school still uses windows 2000. But my class is tought by another school im my crappy school. All of out stuff comes from a tech school. Middle Bucks Institute of Technology. Everyone in our class has dell laptops from the school with XP! We even got to build computers, AMD X2's with 2GB or ram and video cards good enough to run vista. $500 for each system. All bought by tech school. What's funny is I just sit on this forum during the class because I know everything she goes over. My and my friend actually put the PC together in 20 minutes. Installed vista the next day too.

We just got a money grant of a couple of million. Every math and science room got an interactive whiteboard.

What is wrong with XP and what is wrong with dell laptops? Does dell all of a sudden make bad laptops. I have one and love it. Are you implying that they should be using LInux. DANG your school must be very rich if they can afford X2's. It's not that theyr are expensive it's just that they are relatively new.

Yeah it's kinda sad also my friend and i do the exact same thing. We pay no attention in our class and put all of the computers together. Although we have to trouble shoot witch is total BS the school could not provide us with good stuff so we have to test every compnent. The worst is when you tested eveyrthing and it turns out to be the mobo.

Most of our computers are VERY lucky if they can run XP most of them are 95 and 98.

Today i found it ironic we where trying to install Office 2000 on a Windows 98 machine LOLZ And guess what, it didn't work
