Update 6HEY GUYS!
I think I did quite a bit of wood-working last weekend, although it would have taken an easy 10minutes with the proper power-tools, this mod took me half the day to complete with only a cordless drill and an Ozito Rotary Tool with faulty sanding drums.
So, I'm working on the motherboard panel as Silent Dreams has advised me to
The panel clamped down and ready for cutting
So, what I will be working on is:
- SATA Cable, 24 Pin cable, I/O Cables, other motherboard cables etc. routing holes
- CPU cooler/heatsink backplate mounting hole access.
- Watercooling inlets and outlet holes (to and from cooling compartment)
Massive drill bit aye?
Well it's the biggest I have, and it still isn't big enough
I placed too much pressure on one hole and this is the result:
The rotary tool:
I've had horrible experiences with these sanding drums, partly because I left them outside and the constantly changing weather loosened the glue on the abrasive paper, but these keep splitting apart after a minute of usage.
Let's see how they do for this
How I'm going to widen the holes.
This picture was taken 2 minutes after
But somehow, after burning through over 5 sanding drums I got the job done
These are the wider-diameter sanding drums, they lasted much longer than the narrow ones so I'm glad I had these
Now, time for the routing holes for the motherboard:
The process was very slow, I drilled consecutive holes around the edges of the marked out areas and used a thin blade to saw the center out. Then I proceeded to sanding the jagged edges.
The top 2 are complete
Now for the SATA and 24 pin cable holes...
And the rest...
With that complete, I'm moving onto the Backplate acess hole:
Look at all the dust on my arm, my hairs are even white
Wiped up and left to dry
Meanwhile, I've got some cleaning duties to attend to D:<<br />
Now wirth everything cleaned up I can putty up some holes caused by splintering:
Urk : s
Never fear, the putty is here!
And that's the completion of the motherboard panel!!!!
Sanding and painting doesn't really count because that's just the final touches (:
So yeah, I'm glad I got the motherboard tray done this weekend so I can move onto other things, such as researching about grounding the case and figuring out the PCI backplate (thanks again to Silent Dreams)
That's it for now, I won't have another update until next weekend but I will post up plans and whatnot.
Stay tuned for more guys!!!
