does that mobo support crossfire?
it will say in the title
EDIT:nope, it doesnt support CF

yup, both the 955X and 975X chipsets fully support crossfire

That's a great computer for 2006! Back then, the computer cables definitely had coatings to protect from vibration and chemical reaction. The PFA properties of cables from http://fluorotherm.com/Properties-PFA.asp are among the best, as well as their heat shrink tubing.
