to be honest, i dont know what to compare the frio to, hehe, its my first i7 build. i thought the h50 is a decent all in one kit, why wanting to switch to air?
i havent overclocked my 950 yet, so i dont actually know the potential of the frio. but looking at idle temps, its not all that promising to be fair. at stock speed with all the cpu settings enabled (tm, ht, ce1 etc) and 1.05 vcore, my cores idles at about 40'C, i'd say ambient about 15-20'C. i've read millions of reviews of frio, and they somehow can get temps like 35'C at 4+ghz idle. im not sure wot im doing wrong here, i've applied my thermal paste plenty of times. maybe im doing something wrong with the application of thermal paste, maybe i have a bad chip that runs insanely hot, i dont know really. but wot i can tell u is that running intel burt test for 5 runs, maximum setting, 8 threads, the average temp across 4 cores are about 59/60'C. all this is with stock speed. dunno if that is any respectable tho, cant imagine it bettering h50 to be honest. oh, and i leave the 2 fans on the frio at lowest speed, pretty damn quiet.
