The Crysis screenshot hasnt got very good depth at all IMO.

Funk me, some people are hard to please

Taken with a large pinch of pre-rendered salt, those Crysis images give a glimpse of where DX10 is going, which IMO is another big leap toward photo-realism, which I reckon will take another 10-15 years to become a true reality. 60fps real life visuals ie. like a film...Predator for example. We are not even close at the moment, but we're getting closer. They still can't do it in a pre-rendered film where each frame takes hours to render, yet alone in real time 60fps.

Lol I really hate when they make such comparisons. DX9 CAN do a lot better than that first pic. The game graphics just suck

DirectX 9 is pretty much the same as DirectX 10, it's just not as efficient. That's why DX10 and DX9 shots of say, Crysis look pretty much the same. DirectX 10 has some new fun stuff, like Volumetric Clouds, but that's all I can think of that's not in DX9 (And don't say SM4.0, because that's a farce).
