There is a 9800 GTS M, but the 8800 GTS is a little slower than a 9800 GTX

Also, we're discussing intel because it seems like there's no way to enforce pure-AMD build threads in this forum. It should be renamed the 'you really want intel instead' forum.

I know that but I thought you were talking on desktop version

maybe 8800GTX= 9800GTX?

also 8800 series performance deppends on the quantity of ram (256,320,640,768,512,1gb)

The 8800 GTS 512 is only slightly slower (<10% I believe) than the 8800 GTX, because the 8800 GT and GTS 512 used the g92 (which is what the 9800 series and the GTS 250 use) but the 8800 GTX uses the old g80 gpu (same as the 8800 gts 320 and 640 mb)

Actually looks like a 9800 GTX is just a rebadged 8800 gts 512

Most prefarably from the same series, but you can do crossfire/&SLI from cards from different series - although that could cause complications with drivers and so on. So cards from the same brand and series are the best option to aviod issues.

Sorry, what?

I was running a GTS 450 and a HD 5570 in the same computer fine headscratch.gif

They won't run together is what he meant (as in share the processing load). They can each display to a monitor
