I think you're getting your models confused. They never made a x1900xt 256mb version.

dont you get it, hes an nvidia fan ofcourse ATI makes the best cards with crappy amounts of ram lol j/k

I would say that a x1800xt eats up a 7900gt. just from peeking at benches from time to time, has given me enough info to say that the 7800GTX 512 is better than the 7900GT, and the x1800xt 512 is about the same as a 7800GTX 512, except in openGL.

You are very much mistaken, the 7800GTX 256MB is on par with the x1800XT 512MB and the 7800GTX 512MB is a little better than the x1800XT 512MB

Keep in mind that he is asking about the x1800xt 256MB version which is the same price as the 7900GT, $300.

the 7900GT is a little better than the x1800XT 512MB, but obviosuly they have their plusses and minuses but for $100 more, it's not worth it

Well, you're wrong. Most of the time, the 7800GTX ate the 256MB X1800XL's lunch. The 7900GT is practically the same card, but a little bit faster. I'd say the 7900GT is the best buy here.

i never said x1800XL, i said the x1800XT. Theres a big difference, approx. 500mhz memory and 150mhz core? something like that. A overclocked x1800xt can beat two 7800GTX in 3dmark05, just read this.

I only trust Anand and Tom for benchmarks. Read this. Here the 7800GTX beat the X1800XL on every test and the XT on most tests. 3DMark may be good, but it can't beat real-world tests. Besides, he said he can't afford the XT. The 7900GT is the best card for his money.

Not when they are sold out everywhere. they wont knock the price down any time soon.

When the prices start to drop we'll know the G80 series is on the way, just like the prices fell considerably 1 Quarter before a new release. I would expect them to drop somewhere in August or September when Vista is out and DX10 is in full swing

When Vista is released, DX10 cards will be released since DX10 cards are usless on DX9 systems, and with how Microsoft pushes launch dates, I really wouldn't be surpeised if it's right in time for Xmas.
