Hello,

I want to ask you if does it make any difference (in lifetime or other) if I build in hard disks normally or rotated by 90 or rotated by 180 degree?

I have 2 HDD and if I build in both of them normally then the airflow is very bad, however if I rotate one of them by 180 then the airflow is normal.

By rotate, do u mean invert? Yes, bad if upside down. Get a cheap fan on them to raise air flow.

It makes absolutely no difference whatsoever on any HD manufactured after....i think its 1988? I dunno, a really long time ago.

If you use a drive that old, you have to low level format it while it is in its permanent orientation or it won't read the data properly.

But for any of todays drives, don't even worry about it.

I have 2 new 640GB WD drive. And I have a box for 3 drives. I put one of them in the 1. slot and the other into the 3. slot. In the 1. slot is the HDD upside down and so there is ~1cm place from the box top sidewall. However if I place it normally into the 1. slot then there will be a 1mm(!) place between the HDD and the box top sidewall and it seems to be not the best as no airflow there.

I have the following possibilities:
1. 1mm space - HDD - 4cm space - HDD - 1cm space
2. 1cm space - HDD (upside down) - 3cm space - HDD - 1cm space
3. 3,5cm space - HDD (slot 2) - 0,5cm space - HDD - 1cm space

Which one is the best?
