I don't understand what you're trying to prove?

95% of people agree that the 2500K is better than the 1090T.

Do you still think that HT is a gimmick?

Pay attention to the rendering and encoding results.

Go into the Folder's lounge and ask what CPU they would choose between the 2600K and 2500K.

Now, this thread is about the 8 core BD, please try and stay on topic.

Yep I would think it will beat the i7-2600k in folding, probably rendering too.

However for encoding quick sync still makes a lot more sense.

Given the type of place this is, a product that does well at "rendering and servers" being marketed as a desktop cpu probably doesn't make a lot of sense to the vast majority of people here.

Now obviously that isn't everyone, it is still a valid point. Just like your point was valid. You can't take anything away from either camps perspective.

The problem is it took a long time to go for 1 - 2 threaded apps, and even longer to go from 2-4 threaded apps. How long is it going to take for an eight core cpu to matter in most everyday tasks?

In raw power the eight core bulldozer chip is going to trump the i5-2500k, the problem is finding programs that can even use 50% of that raw power.

My last thought on this subject because it's pointless and will never end is that while the i7-2600k doesn't blow the i5-2500k away in multithreading, it doesn't lose 50% of its performance when reduced to a quad core either.

I'm sure no matter how good or bad Bulldozer does there will be the exact same argument next month, and the month after that, or whichever month it happens to be that bulldozer actually releases. That argument will continue on for years upon years, as it has since AMD began to contend with Intel. And just like with all those long dead, slow and crappy cpus, these two product lines won't mean anything in a few years.

some solid BD benches would be nice, and of the 4 and 6 cores

Clearly you lack insight and understanding. I build computers all day. And if there is one thing that I know is true, its that single component prices are meaningless. It does not matter if the processors are the same price when other components are not. For instance, not only are amd processors cheaper but so are amd motherboards. So unless you can do multi-variable calculus in your head, I doubt you will be able to tell which offers the best price/performance.

Edit: I'm not barking at everybody. Just one person.

Anyone hating on hyperthreading is just hating/throwing poo.
I use both an i5 750 and i7 950 at work and its very clear that windows 7 and many applications (including games too) take advantage.

It's why a Quad intel beats out a 6 core AMD.
I love my AMD Phenom II, but it is what it is.

I'm not going to argue this all night but i'll just say this. Every amd fan on this site claims bulldozer is going to destroy sandy bridge yet every leak has said differently.... ES or not...

It doesn't matter what is said, what proof is presented, in the end there is always a way out or another excuse. This is after all the internet, and arguing over it is like competing in the Special Olympics... I think we all know that analogy.
