Intel should consider that people that have SB and IVY need to speed extra $200 min taking into account selling older combo just to get the small increase in performance unless we are talking 20%+
For gaming do you really need anything more than a Sandy bridge chip? I mean, there is just no need for anything more than a 2600k at this point. The era of multithreaded gaming is coming soon and that is when an upgrade will make sense.

I run multiple VM's, stream @ 1080p while playing demanding games, have several programs running in the back ground. Would I need more than my 3770k? Nah... but I would need an upgrade sooner than most given my computer behavior.

Nehalem (bloomfield at least) went to 200+

I don't believe in "good enough"~!!

240hz / gsync / low persistence is AWESOME

I have been trying to say that for years. Most here want to upgrade. Needing to upgrade is different.

I've run into a few games that will peg one core at 100% and cause slow downs. It's rare, but they are out there.

Currently Playing
Iron Brigade (Now with Steamworks!) | Diablo III (6WW+2IK BK Barbarian) | Elite Dangerous (I <3 Rhino HOTAS)

Looking Forward To
Oculus Rift CV1 | Galak-Z | Star Citizen | Bedlam (Backed) | The Flame in the Flood (Backed)

Recently Finished
Tomb Raider | Metro - Last Light | Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon | Costume Quest 2 |

3.9GHz? That's not much of an OC. Wake me up when someone shows some numbers in the 4.8GHz plus range.

Doubtful, last I heard skylake was going to be the first mainstream socket with DDR4.
