The Radeon HD 7000 series hardware architecture is fully DirectX 11.2-capable when used with a driver that enables this feature. AMD is planning to enable DirectX 11.2 with a driver update in the Windows 8.1 launch timeframe in October, when DirectX 11.2 ships.

Did they even do 11.1 yet? I'm not knocking them, I'm honestly curious. I thought they only advertise DX11 on everything (not that the .1 was a big deal).

If they can make a DX11 card compliant with 11.2, then can they do the same whenever DX12 is out?

Not normally.

DX11.1 and 11.2 were mostly software side optimizations. They really could be driver side supported.

the nvidia lineup have no 11.1 hardware support. moreover the component of directx 11.2 (tiled resources) that can be emulated in software has two tiers - one which works with only software, and one with hardware. the radeon lineup has hardware support for this component.

as per old articles such as: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2012/11/21/nvidia-doesnt-fully-support-directx-111-with-kepler-gpus2c-bute280a6.aspx

and tiled resources, according to amd reps on various forums (and now in articles such as the above)

Thanks. I can live with 90% compatibility if Nvidia decides to push out an update for Kepler.
