I mean they found a way to lower prices and include performance with quad fx. (ya, ya bad idea, say all you want but it brought up performance didn't it? Also, it sets the basis for 65nm k8L that will lower power consumption and improve performance even more for HT 3.0) I mean doesn't a x2 3800+ look sexy right now?

I honestly never thought AMD would take away the thermal crown from the Prescott, but they have managed to do it with the FX-7x series.

if the x2 3800 was under $100 bucks like the pentium d 805 THEN i would have probably bought it. I know its faster big deal I just wanted a cheap dual core.

The thing with K8 is that it was a really good architecture to begin with so compared to Netburst, it really shined. Everyone now is comparing Core to K8 and saying how bad K8 is compared to Core. Core is newer and actually designed with performance in mind so it is able to beat K8. If it didn't beat K8, Intel might as well have stayed with Netburst. K8 is just older tech, not bad tech. Now, the 4x4 is an entirely different story.............

Actually, if I was a MB maker, I'd be getting :swearing: and then doh.gif and eek.gif and laugher.gif @ that pile of :turd: concept of marketing.

all the arguments for your opinion on the 4x4 are defeated in your own post. 4x4 is a good platform, but there just aren't processors for it yet.

K8 had a good run.

A64 3500+ > X2 3800+ > E6300 > X4 640 > Phenom II N970 > G3220

6800GS > X1950pro > 8800GT > 460GTX > HD6470M > HD7700GHZ
