Looks like the Gigabyte Extreme GTX 1070 is the way to go. I'm just waiting on them to get in stock at Amazon. Those 3 HDMI connections, extreme cooling, and 4 year warranty it just perfect. thumb.gif And recent reviews say the same.

I have always liked Gigabyte cards and my GTX 970 G1 Gaming was a beast, that being said I had to send my Gigabyte 1070 back and I bought the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X. It's a real beast, 1972mhz boost core clock out of the box, I didn't even have to oc it.
The gigabyte 1070 never reached it's advertised boost and ran hot at 78c with fans running 80%
My MSI never gets over 68c and fans at 40% as they don't even come on until 60c, also I could not get the DP to work on my monitor with the gigabyte card which I needed as I have 1 DP monitor and 1 HDMI monitor.

MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X Boost Clock is 1797 right? It's what newegg says. Plus I'm referring to the Gigabyte Extreme GTX 1070...not the regular one.

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N1070G1-GAMING-8GD/dp/B01H0WU884/ref=sr_1_1?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1470025566&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabyte+gtx1070&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011

Amazon keeps selling out the of all versions of the Gigabyte GTX 1070. The G1 was $429 earlier but I cancelled my order because I wanted its more powerful sibling.

thats the one I had the Extreme.
also if you check on the OCN GTX 1070 owners club almost every 1070 will boost over it's advertised boost, even the gigabyte.
I just happened to get a bad gigabyte this time. not saying you will but just posted my experience with it.

I get 1987mhz boost tonight with the MSI factory over clock.

hmmm....you got me thinking. I really need multiple HDMI ports though because my PC serves as a HTPC as well as gaming machine with multiple monitors. I think I will have to wait this thing out.

Yeah I must admit that lack of HDMI ports on the MSI is a bummer, but I guess DP is the way to go these days.

can you get by with 2 hdmi? ASUS has 2 on theirs.
But like said Gigabyte makes a good card I just happened to get a bad one, first time ever for me.
I went with the MSI because when returning the Gigabyte they were out of stock so I would have gotten a refund
and I really wanted a 1070 and did not want to wait anymore.
and Your'e welcome. smile.gif

The ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1070 STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-GAMING is a candidate too!

So money worth wise, is it better to go with a GTX 1070 rather than a 1080? Wouldn't the 1080 have a better resale value in the future even though the performance/$ for the 1070 is way better?
