IMO AMD is doing the right thing. Going after the market that buys $300 or less for GPUs. If it can deliver 970/980 performance for that price and at even lower power levels then it's a big time winner. This goes great with HTPCs and small builds. Then when they get a bigger audience then they can deliver more powerful cards and go after the niche markets. Good game plan. Finally. Hopefully it delivers. Specially if they optimize the dual GPU setups cause Xfire sucks big time.
I did think Raja was going to bring out a powerhouse when he kept saying "what is possible at $700?"
Still.. I like that they are allowing the reviewers to present their findings when the card is out, as opposed to AMD having their own benchmarks for games. AOTS was definitely happening so I wasn't surprised at that.
Closed the stream. Not interested in apu or cpus. Wish we could have gotten some launch dates tho. I like the simplistic design of the ref cooler, with a back plate it would look very nice. Not gonna get overly excited as that wasn't a lot of info but it does look promising. If it all looks good I may have to finally upgrade. If BF1 is as legit as it looks, may have to finally upgrade monitors too!
