If Titan X had 1/3 there would be room for both cards.

So sorry, 1080Ti is a looooong way from now. And it sucks

There is however one possibility of both existing together: less cores on the 1080Ti

Man, did 980Ti killed TITAN X sales? No, becasue TITAN X was bought already by all those who had money.

And please remember that 980Ti was pretty much even in gaming performance with TITAN X.

If 980TI did not kill TITAN X sales, 1080Ti also won't. Also remember that TITAN is also best card for proffesional usage, so this market will still grab TITAN XP. Al rich players will already had their TITAN X.

1080Ti will be pure gaming card. With it they hit the last remaining customers- those who still wait patiently to get worth price-performance upgrade from 980Tis.

1080Ti won't be out that long from now, simply because Nvidia must keep throwing carrots. Of course it won't be out as fast as TITAN was after 1080. TITAN will have to sell first. Which it will, it always does.

1. Titan X GM200 was $1000, not $1200
2. 1080Ti will not have cut down vram

If I was to choose between aib 980Ti vs reference Titan X (GM200) I'd still choose the TX because of double vram. AIB 1080Ti vs Titan X GP102 ? Probably the 1080Ti since it would allow for less throttling and still have the same vram capacity.

Definitely not worth giming performance in multi-threaded games to get a maximum of 10% more FPS in select poorly threaded games. Especially since the trend is going towards multi-core, particularly with DX12.

Also for the record, AoTS is trash. It's not a game. It was designed as a technology bench. Comparing performance in that game is like comparing performance in Firestrike and saying it is representative of gaming performance.

The BW-E has about 10% better IPC as compared to HW-E, and Skylake is just a little bit better in IPC from BW-E.

which is why I am lost... the 6 cores 6800K when OC will win in every aspect on paper, but real life gaming performance not so, so how much must I OCed 6800K to match a 6700K in gaming performance.

Its always a big headache.

Titan X completely crush the GTX 1080 in overclocking.
HwBot have entries of overclocking done on stock cooling. No LN2, water or mods. Just stock cooling.

Fastest GTX Titan X is 65% faster than the fastest GTX 1080.

How much vram would a 1080Ti have? 8GB like the 1080 or 12GB like the Titan X? This is the first time the Titan doesn't have at least 2X the amount of vram of the x80 card. This Titan so seems like the 1080Ti with the Titan name. I bet we won't see a Ti this generation.

I have a big bang house. I had all the materials for my new house brought in and dumped on a vacant lot. I took a stick of dynamite, lit the fuse on fire and tossed it into the pile of materials. BOOM went the explosion and when the dust settled I had a new house! Amazing isn't it? rolleyes.gif
