As long as NVidia stays away from Global foundaries they'll be fine.

GLOFLO is the WORST silicon fab company in the world.

You guys are overreacting to some things. Nvidia is a company, company needs profits, one way to achive higher profits is lowering costs, if samsung can produce cards with lower cost than tsmc, i see no reason why would nvidia stay with tsmc. rest is irrelevant. and there is no hidden truth behind it.

i5 3570k | MSI Z77 MPOWER | 2x4gb 1600 Crucial | ZOTAC GTX 970 | 240gb SSD Crucial BX100 | IN WIN 303 | be quiet! STRAIGHT POWER 10 500W

may be, I haven't read up on vega in a while.
just seems surprising they'll be able to deliver a 2x bigger chip with the same power consumption.
and doesn't bigger silicon mean higher production cost ? like I don't understand how amd is possibly making a 450mm chip that costs less than nvidias 300mm one.

It's likely Nvidia wants to diversify it's supply and that TSMC is licking apples rear does not help them since apple gets the priority to the fab.

Smart move, why put all your eggs in one basket?

So 14nm samsung/glofo isn't as bad as people are saying ? or it's the glofo producing crap again ? although one thing is sure, GCN can't clock as high as GM/GP.

It could be for Next-Gen Tegra chips. Given Samsung's lack of experience in manufacturing big dies like GPUs, I wouldn't expect Nvidia to completely rely on Samsung for their next generation gpus.
