I think the most interesting part of this article is the part about the agreement to licence Zen tech to China, it will be interesting to see how that impacts the market.

AMD’s stock began skyrocketing earlier this year, but the rate of ascent is increasing after AMD CEO Lisa Su unveiled the new Zen microarchitecture this week. The unveiling of the architecture and the accompanying product demos have investors upping the tempo of bullish drumbeats as the resurgent company promises to return to relevance. AMD's stock is up another 11% today (as of the time of this writing), for a whopping total of 330% this year.]

I think the same thing that happened to nintendo will happen to them. Stockholders will realize that Zen is not the greatest thing in the world. When benchmarks come out and it doesnt perform the XX% faster than the intel chips then it will go back down. ... i guess its not like Nintendo ... that would be more like.... well... Zen was actually made by ARM, we just put our name on it. BUT EITHER WAY... yeah.

I'm not saying it won't come back down, but that is not how stocks work at all. Here's to hoping their stock continues to rise because that means competition is alive and well.

Is that an ominous statement in regards to Intel's reign falling or hating on Zen? tongue.gif

I will keep a seat warm for you on the hype-train, while you wait. I bought a ticket back when Jim Keller was announced as the conductor/engineer.

You equate stockholders to enthusiasts, which is incorrect. Even if Zen isn't a 5960X or 6700K, if it is priced right it will sell. It also provides OEMs a lower cost alternative to Intel/Nvidia products, which make up the bulk of sales. Every XB1 and PS4 that ships contains AMD chips. Apple's new laptop and desktop lines include AMD GPUs. Their share price isn't as sensitive to benchmarks in one product segment like you make it seem.

Anyone wishing for the demise of AMD needs to be submitted for a psychological evaluation. A successful AMD is EXACTLY what we need right now as Intel stagflates and Nvidia releases ever more expensive GPUs. Brand loyalty is fine, but competition drives performance, not what color you think is better.

Closet Hype: Dr. Lisa Su was a step in the right direction, if anyone knows how technically competent she is, I really believed she could right that trainwreck of a company.
