EDIT: Just noticed that at stock speeds the Bloomsfield chip gets same SuperPI 1M score as my Q6600 at 3.3

This is not the first, anandtech had an article titled "intel does it again" that had much better comparisons.

Wow that is really impressive. I can't wait for a complete workup. Hope the engineers at AMD are reading this to motivate them to get going.

I know, People talk like Nehalem will be twice as fast as Conroe/Penryn at the same clock speeds, I've even seen articles claiming a similar performance increase that we had with the Presler to Conroe generation which was quite literally 100% at the same clock speeds. My bet is that Nehalem in general will be 20-30% faster than a Penryn Quad at the same clocks, which is still pretty significant but far from some of the rumours.

Fourth quarter this year, 2.66GHz hits the Q9450's current price bracket, 2.93 -> Q9550, 3.2 -> some XE processor, QX9770 I think.

30% gain clock for clock would likely be Intel's target.....16ops per clock vs. 12 with C2D/Q. Not the revolution from P4 to Core gave us with a 100% gain, but still quite an achievment. Not only are we seeing an increase in ops/clock with Nehalem, we're also going to see an evolution in memory bandwidth available. So far all the benchies are in DUAL CHANNEL DDR3, Nehalem is going to support TRI CHANNEL.

Lest we forget our lessons with Penryn and Wolfdale- the 45nm process has shown to OC very well with low TDP, although they are somewhat voltage sensitive. The "Tick" of Nehalem will be interesting indeed....Hopefully "Tock" die-shrink to 32nm fares as well as the 90nm--->65nm shrink did.

Funny thing is..i myself cant wait for this chip to come out because it is a killer chip with ridiculous performance..BUT..i dont even utilize this quad nower near its full potential..all i do is have firefox open..music playing and maybe now play a game with media player in the background playing music..this chip wont bring nothing new for me..itll be fast..but probably nothing ill notice..

Hey I have no doubt Nehalem is going to PWN!! One thing you left out is the return of hyper threading so a 4 core Nehalem will be able to execute 8 threads at a time. I doubt that tri channel vs. dual channel will make much of a difference but I could be wrong. Anyways the early LGA 1360 parts will be tri channel and the Q3 2009 parts on LGA 1160 will still be dual channel.
