Is this normal? I tried to OC my 2500k via the BIOS but I CPU Z does not agree with my core frequency.

I also have speed step enabled; however my CPU multipliers are never down clocked when I'm on idle. Any ideas?

thanks!

First of all, you need to put load on the CPU to see your true overclock. Since you overclock via the Turbo multiplier. Use Prime95 or something like that.

Second, if it won't downclock to 1600MHz when Idle, check power options in the control panel. If it's set to Performance, try to set it to 'Balanced'. Balanced have been the default setting for my systems after I've installed Windows. But some default to performance, and does not clock Sandy down as it should. Balanced setting should fix it.
