What is this?

This is a new event we're trying to start up, both to promote Folding@Home, and to see what OCN's Intel users are capable of. Primarily, this will be a contest for people with Intel CPUs who would like to start Folding, and have a bit of competitive fun with other like-minded people.

The idea is you'll all use this thread to trash talk each other, work on optimising your Folding@Home set up to get the most out of it, and then think about moving on to the big leagues of OCN Folding competitions. " rel="http://files.overclock.net/images/smilies/wink.gif">wink.gif

There will be three Staff members co-ordinating the event; myself, and zodac and sweffymo representing the Folding section. thumbsupsmiley.png

Is it so "insane" I won't understand it? O_o

Not at all. biggrin.gif The system is quite simple:

• Once you're signed up and one of the event co-ordinators approved you, your points will begin to be tallied.

• The points are reset every two weeks, so you can use the first "round" to set up your clients, and then the next one to actually challenge for the win.

• If you go through two events (four weeks) without posting any points, you're removed from the stats. Along with new users coming in, we hope this will keep the competition fresh, with new users coming in to compete at a constant rate. smile.gif

What's in it for me?

You mean aside from beating people? Well, if you've ever been interested in Folding, or have ever considered trying it out, this is the perfect time to do it. You'll not only have a couple of Folding Editors here to help you out with any issues, but you'll also be competing against people in the same situation, so you'll all - hopefully -  learn from each other. drunken.gif

How do I get started?

Here are a few links you can take a look at:

CPU Folding guide

nVidia GPU Folding guide

AMD GPU Folding guide

A full list of guides and information can be found here. And of course, feel free to post any questions in the Folding forum.  Zodac and Sweffymo are available to answer any questions you have via PM  thumb.gif

Who can sign up?

Since we'd like to keep this to new, in-experienced Folders, to give everyone a fighting chance, there are two requirements:

• You must have at least one rig with an Intel CPU.

• You cannot already be an OCN Folder (or have been Folding for less than two weeks).

If you meet both requirements (and we'll be checking ninja.gif), use this sign up link:

This is interesting, I still have yet to partake in any "New-folder" competitions because when I started folding in November 2011, the last new-folder competition had just ended and hasn't been one since then.

Hopefully this can generate a bunch of folding interest among all the new members biggrin.gif

Wait.. I started folding .. three weeks ago, but only did it once or twice. Am I still eligible?

Edit: Unless I'm completely wrong, I started folding 16 February?
