As long as your temps stay below 90-95 or so in prime then you're good to go. I ran 4.2ghz with stock cooler easily.

CPU lifetime goes down the hill with those temps and if you run it that high

I second that.

If it's not hot enough to hurt when you touch it, then it's very cool. - TwoCables

Unless you fold or something your temps will never get that high though. I don't think I've ever run my CPU at 100% other than stress testing.

The highest i have ever seen my 3820 with a NH-U12P SE2 was 64c and that was on a very hot summer day after a whole day doing video editing

On the other hand my 3820 is on stock speeds

Well its does say it has room for 170mm high coolers with the fan removed so you might and i say might be able to fit a Thermalright Archon SB-E X2 that one is not very wide so it has no problem with high RAM and it also comes with 2x Thermalright TY-140 fans which i have heard and see a lot of good things about

Otherwise there is the Phanteks PH-TC12DX that one even comes in 4 colors blue/red/white and black

I'm considering getting the Phanteks PH-TC12DX now. How loud is it though, and how loud is the stock cooler for the i5-3570K?
How much will I be able to safely overclock the i5-3570K to with the Phanteks PH-TC12DX?
And what about H100i? I've considered Water Cooling, but how good is it?

The Phanteks PH-TC12DX is a rather new cooler i have been looking at buying that one myself in red

I have only heard one bad thing about it and that is the fans are a bit on the loud side when they spin at max speed but that was from one guy so might not be true

i am super picky about noise so if i buy the Phanteks PH-TC12DX first thing i would do if the fans are too loud is to replace them with Noctua NF-F12 fans

Last the stock cooler on max speed is like staning next to a jet taking off compared to the Phanteks PH-TC12DX

The Phanteks is very quiet and is a very good performer considering its size. The stock cooler is quiet at idle but once you put a decent amount of load on the CPU during gaming or other tasks it gets very loud.
You should be able to get the 3570K to at least 4.4GHz with the Phanteks, if you have a good chip you could even hit 4.6GHz+.
The H100i is a very good cooler, one of the best 240mm radiator true AIO units you can get (not counting the H220 as a true AIO).
