1150 will have cheaper mobos but the MSI X79A-GD45 is a good board at a good price.

And 1150 has a wider range of feature sets if you are into those kind of stuff. As for a Z87 suggestion I'd say Gigabyte Z87 UD4H

I'm going with the i7-4930k for $179.99 for mostly gaming and minor video rendering. I am buying the cpu and waiting for a ddr4 mobo with a 2011 socket.

Current cpu's are almost definitely not going to work with the new ddr4 2011 socket motherboards. it's going to be a totally different 2011 socket. Hasewell-e has integrated voltage regulators and so the components are totally different on the motherboard side also.
