This will be my gaming rig and I wanted to see what people thought of it. Any questions/comments are welcome as well as suggestions for a better build (these are very welcome ). Also suggestions on places to get these items cheaper would be awsome

On to the build! (reasons are at the end).

Motherboard - DFI LANPARTY DK X38
http://www.motherboardpro.com/DFI-LA...ail-p-531.html - 189$

CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

Memory - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227284 - bought for 55$ after MIR

VGA - Nvidia 8800 GTS (G92)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127323 - 215$

Sound Card - Integrated, if I notice a sound difference I will get one after I build the rig. I will also be testing my current Philips in there.

Case - Coolermaster 690
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119137 - waiting for the under 60$ deals and looking for it locally

HDD - 500 GB - 32 MB Cache - Seagate
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...dlist=celebros - 100$

CPU Cooler - Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme + Scythe fan
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/56...40c14s52#blank - 80$

PSU - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX ATX12V / EPS12V 750W Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006 - 140$Bought at Buy.com for 105$

Reasons -
Read thread/last post for my up to date explanations

Questions -
Is there anywhere I can get these products for cheaper?
Any suggestions on improving my build?

How about that f-xi fatality card? That could be good. I would think that extra VGA cooling would be good for overclocking the card too. Are you thinking SLI upgrade in the future.

Looks good though! Should be a blast...

Thats a very nice rig over there. Make sure u have a 64-bit os if u want to have a full 4 gigs of ram.
Questions/FAQ
1.Is replacing the stock VGA cooler worth it?
A. It is not neccesary if u have enough air flow in the case but if ur buying a lot of hardware replace the stock VGA cooler
2.Is there anywhere I can get these products for cheaper?
A.For me no newegg is the best and I 2nd for tigerdirect. (but sometimes the customer service freaks me out lol)
3.Any suggestions on imrpvoing my build?
A.I suggest you replace the patriot viper with a 2 x 2 crucial DDR2 1066 or 2 x 1 or 4 x 1 G.skill DDR2 800. For the sound card get Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtremegamer or the massive pricey X-Fi Elite Pro.

EDIT: What monitor are you running for your new rig?

the stock vga cooler on the 8800gts 512 is very good. Unless you want silly clocks it should work just fine for you.

Nice rig to set up But I have had 2 DFI Lanparty's and they are very picky on what ram you use.

Awesome.

It should be great.

What's your Power Supply though (Just curious)

Oh yeah, and here's a good sound card to throw on it

Get the Thermalright Ultra 120 EXTREME <---

One you have has less heatpipes and the one everybody raves about is the EXTREME version

And I vote for q6600 as well! mine runs 3.6 @ 1.38v and is rocksolid I'm sure with a TRUE, you will be able to do similiar

If you like the 900, go for it but I think that CM690 @ 70 dollar-ish should be better, since they both function the same and you can save that money to be spent on new soundcard, such as x-fi extreme game or music

Solid rig, but I'd double the hard-drive size to 500g for an extra $20. (WD 500 Caviar). Games require more and more space.
I'd also look into the new 9800GTX due out in a few days ($350.-$375.).
Modular psu sure does make wire management easier and cleaner. Don't forget a couple spare 120 case fans.
