Xeon X3440, overclock it to i5 speeds and up.

But do you use 8 threads? If you're just a gamer and slight video editor a i5 would do you just fine.

I also agree with foxhound, the few reason i purchased a x3440 was because the i7 860 was 260+ anywhere near me( no mirco center) and the x3440 i purchased cost me $230 with three day shipping. It performs and close just as good as a i7 860 or i5 750.

The last reason was because i video encode my dvd collection using hanbrake and at an overclock of 3.8ghz witih 4 cores and 8 threads. I am able to encode a dvd at 90-110fps.

I'm going to be using it for editing HD video and doing some web design work. maybe some gaming.

What about the 3450? think it's worth the extra ~20$?

Nah, it's clocked what, about 10 MHz higher or so?

Alright, Thanks for the help man! +Rep

So it's either the 3440 or the i5.

I'm going to post them tomorrow, I'm gona hit the hay (3 AM).

Very nice results, try some prime95 after IBT. Lucky you with your Hyper 212+, my V1 is just barely keeping this thing cool..

I ran some 3Dmark vantage, scored 23K CPU score @ 3.8.

some pics

I need a test bench
